Cave-Diving on the Winter Solstice

Posted by vibrantone on 21 December 2011 in Blog

Today is the Winter Solstice. In recent weeks I’ve been growing more quiet, listening deeply to myself, and exploring the darker corners of my interior world. You know, it’s actually not so sinister in there. I have found such gems – little pieces of me, my history, old patterns and beliefs – that are ready to be brought into the light of the longer days which come tomorrow. It’s what I think cave-diving must be like. From the outside, so dark and scary and unknown. And on the inside, amid the damp recesses there are  crystal pools to be discovered, lovely moments of recognition… oooh what’s that, a diamond!

On this longest night of the year, I feel at peace and am ready for ceremony. I will connect with loving friends and shine light into the darker corners, as they hold space for my healing. There will be candles and burning, releasing the old and welcoming the Light to bless visions for the coming year. And dancing, celebrating this body who knew to be still and listen for a time to the wisdom within her.

Will you share, how do you plan to move through this day? Will you sink into the darkness and listen? Will there be ritual and ceremony? What is coming for you in this Season of Light?

I’m bringing much more intention and focus to the start of the coming year, you are invited to join me. On January 6th I’ve planned a day for 20 Austin women to Create Your 2012 with intention, intuition, beauty, connection.  On January 9th I will host a free, one-hour live call about Practicing Expansion, creating a Healthy + Beautiful Life, one day at a time. The Vibrant Life Master Class begins January 16, for 4 weeks thru February 10.  I hope to meet you there!

Be Well,
Maddy

The End of the ‘Oh Sh*t Wake-up’

wakeup

This morning upon waking I immediately remembered my early dentist appointment and did the thing I used to do regularly, which I call the 'oh sh*t wake-up.' You know, the default setting most of us have. We awaken, we think first and foremost about our 'list' for that day, and we say "oh sh*t." I have spent the last several years in a different sleeping and waking practice, and gotten lazy over the holidays. So today was a good reminder to return to it. It goes like this: Awaken. Gently notice you're awake. Be catlike ... Read More

The cookies are coming, the cookies are coming! Before we learned Grandmommy is coming for Christmas this year (she promises to do the baking), my son asked me with a woeful expression “Um, mom, are we going to have any cookies this Christmas?” And because I delight in torturing my children I said… “Why no! In fact, let’s make it a completely sugar-free holiday! Maybe we should do gluten-free.  Heck, let’s go for vegan!” Poor kid, said he felt like crying… I guess he didn’t find it quite as a funny as I did (gotta make procrastination a ... Read More

Six Tips for Lotsa Love & Sane Holidays

Posted by vibrantone on 15 December 2010 in Blog

ACK. You and I haven’t finished our holiday shopping, wrapping, baking, or cleaning yet! I don’t have time to be writing this. But it is asking to be written (guess who needs to hear it)! Hang with me… six quick tips for sanity (maybe a deep breath, an aha moment) over the next coupla weeks…. 1. Find inspiration I don’t know what I would do without AstroAnne.com these days. I’m no astrologer but there’s no denying it’s been a whacky time these last few weeks. Ask anyone who’s married, has parents or children. Whacky! Astrology (done well) is mind-blowing and actually quite helpful. I’ll tap into monthly wisdom from the leader of ... Read More
