Over the summer I immersed myself in a period of rest and rejuvenation, partially inspired by green juice and journaling my way through a terrific read. One of the fruits of this process is a newly inspired commitment to 5 daily practices, which keep me engaged in the deliberate creation of a healthy, beautiful life.
Watch the video to hear how I use these 5 new daily practices:
- Declare “I am completely satisfied.”
- Feel good about money.
- Focus on one business to-do at a time.
- Create beauty.
- Connect with my partner.
What regular practices enliven your daily experience? Please comment! If you’re seeking regular inspiration to continually create your own healthy beautiful life, join my list for weekly Vibrant Health Notes.
With so much gratitude for those who informed my new practices, Debbie Ford (‘The 21-Day Consciousness Cleanse’), Jill Rogers (Seven Sacred Steps), Barbara Stanny (Overcoming Underearning), Caroline Muir, Joan & Tomas Heartfield (The Divine Feminine -Awakened Masculine Institute). Maddy,
I love your new daily practices. I am in the process of re-designing my day to better suite me. I have let some things go while I was focusing on my business and need to rethink my daily processes. Although your 5 practices are not the same as I would choose, the concept and this post is very inspiring for me.
I also loved the part about you getting up and embracing your husband when he returns from work. This is something that I have been doing for a while now (since I read Create the Body Your Soul Desires) and I am always amazed at how such a simple gesture can have so much impact.
My 5 new daily practices will be:
1. Affirmation: I am open to all the good and abundance the Universe has to offer.
2. Exercise.
3. Yoga/Meditation.
4. Be healthy/eat healthy/cook healthy meals for my family.
5. Be fully present with the people that I love and show how much I love them.
Heather, hooray for inspired daily practices! Thank you so much for saying exactly what your focus is. Of course these will change with you and the tides and the seasons… but the very idea that we tie action into our deepest values is the magic that makes life ROCK! BTW I love a good affirmation, and I’m excited that yours is about receiving abundance. Oh baby is your life gonna shift as a result. Keep us posted!
Love this post, Maddy, you are radiant and beautiful!
Yes, I have also been working on incorporating my own daily practices over the last year and they have been:
1) writing in my gratitude journal
2) writing morning pages (from the Artist’s Way book)
3) being more fully present to the task at hand or the person I am speaking to (breaking the multi-tasking habit has not been an easy one, but oh, so important for me)
4) being in nature and feeling gratitude for all of its beauty and wisdom (allowing)
5) some form of movement – yoga, dance or hiking, etc.
Keep up the vibrancy,
xoxox,
Sheila
Thank you for commenting Sheila. Julia Cameron’s ‘The Artist’s Way’ has been such a powerful influence for me as well. Her practices of morning pages (particularly the way to ‘begin where you are’), and artist dates are some of the foundational practices that shifted me out of an unconscious way of being. Thank you too for bringing connecting with nature and movement into the discussion. These are such powerful practices!
Maddy,
Thank you for sharing your daily practices! Not only do you inform, but you inspire me. Although the life phase that I’m in allows spontaneity, I find that a deep longing for daily practice is most balancing for me too. I have loved changing my practices as my life evolves and currently my daily practices include:
1. FEEL: before rising I “feel” into my body and assess what I’m feeling( satisfaction, excitement, passion, gratitude, love etc.)
2. INTEND: Setting my intention for what I desire to FEEL throughout my day (regardless of the activities before me)
3. MOVE my body: this starts with stretching and moves into something to get my heart pumping and my blood flowing.
4. FLOW: Using the plan of my day I feel into the flow and make adjustments in my schedule to honor that energy flow. This way I’m CREATING within the natural flow of energy. Life is much easier and joyous using this approach.
5. PRESENCE: From a place of being present I’m much more connected to my own feelings, the feelings of others and the subtle guidance that assists me to be more fully IN my day. Presence brings a huge gratitude into each activity, each person I interact with and into my own feelings of self.
Keep rocking our world Maddy – your fan!
Marianne
Ooooh Marianne, I feel like I’m waking up with you, feeling and stretching into my own body and experience of the day I will create. Thank you! What a beautiful way to BE!
Thank you, Maddy for sharing this…I love my morning routine, inspired by you Sarah and Dr. Deb Kern. It is amazing when you set an intention for your day how clarity comes to play! Living an Exceptional Life IS a decision! And I love it that I get to decide every day!!!
